A 24,204 SF administration and technology learning center located in White Center near Seattle, Washington. Technology Access Foundation (TAF) is a non-profit foundation with a mission “to prepare underserved students of color for success in a technology-driven world by providing technology and life skills training”. The site is easily accessible by foot, bicycle, or bus, as it is in the northeast corner of Lakewood Park, a King County park bordered by multi-family and single family residences.
The facility provides education outreach and acts as a community center for the surrounding neighborhood. The building design and form responds to this community aspect, as well as environmental conditions by being an efficient and sustainable building.
The project achieved LEED Silver Certification. Awards: 2013 AIA Seattle Honor Award; 2013 AIA Washington Council Civic Design Award.
